This month, one of our certified Navarino Elements engineers, Spyros Skylourakis, travelled for two weeks onboard a customer’s vessel to install a new dual Wartsila ECDIS system. During the 16 day crossing from Cape Town to Brazil, he successfully retrofitted the Wartsila MFD 4000 and integrated the Wartsila Fleet Operations Solution (FOS).
Wartsila’s ECDIS offers benefits including enhanced navigational safety, efficient route planning, real-time monitoring, and compliance with IMO regulations, along with features like 24/7 chart and service support.
The company’s Fleet Operations Solution (FOS) is based on the foundation of a connected ECDIS. It puts fragmented services in shipping under one umbrella to lift synergies and to improve operational processes. This, in turn, leads to more cost-efficient performance.
In case troubleshooting is needed, remote support from the Wartsila support centre is available directly on the ECDIS units.
Our engineer also installed a 3rd backup navigation system that is based on an Ipad, for an extra layer of safety and navigational redundancy.
We are delighted that our newly created Elements unit is well underway carrying out such attendances, and we look forward to many more successful, innovative and productive installations ahead!
